Gopadma Vrata 2025: Dates and Timings

• This vrat is observed during Chaturmas, beginning from Ashadha Shukla Ekadashi and ending on Kartik Shukla Ekadashi (Dev Uthani Ekadashi).
• The Gopadma Vrata is performed for seven consecutive days each year and this cycle continues for five years.

Gopadma Vrata Rituals

• Begin the day with a bath and wear clean clothes.
• Draw rangoli designs of a cow with a calf, lotuses and auspicious symbols at the place of worship or cowshed.
• In the rangoli, depict the cow with six lotuses, representing the presence of thirty-three crore deities.
• Offer kumkum, rice and flowers around the rangoli.
• Present sweets, fruits and naivedya as offerings.
• Circumambulate the rangoli thirty-three times, then perform six additional rounds for the six lotuses.
• Perform special puja and aarti and offer prayers to the cow.
• Repeat this process for all seven days. If a day is missed, perform the missed day’s puja along with the current day.
• At the end of the vrat, donation (daan) is essential-on the first year, offer payasam, thirty-three coins, tulsi, sandalwood and betel leaf. In subsequent years, offer different sweets like laddus, athirasa, elai appam, ubbittu, etc., each with thirty-three coins and sacred items.
• The donation is given to one’s brother or, in his absence, to a deserving person.
