In Indian tradition, Pitru Paksha is a period held as sacred, powerful and emotionally profound. As soon as Bhadrapada Purnima brings the first day, a spiritual cycle begins. In 2025, it starts on September 7 and continues till Sarva Pitru Amavasya on September 21. It is believed that for these 15 days, our ancestors descend to earth, connecting with their descendants through memory, energy and silent blessings. Day by day, different ancestors are honored. The last day, Mahalaya Amavasya, involves universal Shraddha dedicated to all forebears. According to Vedas and Puranas, only during these days do ancestors visit earth and the spiritual cycle of rebirth and moksha becomes accessible for their upliftment through their descendants' devotion.
