Planetary stages by degrees with examples and influence of odd and even signs
In Vedic astrology every zodiac sign has 30 degrees and the effect of a planet depends on the degree it occupies. These degrees symbolize different stages of life and energy.
When a planet enters a sign, its strength changes gradually. This is divided into five stages - infant, adolescent, youth, aged and dead. The order of these stages is different in odd signs and even signs.
Each sign is of 30 degrees, divided into five parts of 6 degrees each. Every part represents a stage of the planet.
The sequence is reversed.
Type of Sign | 0-6° | 7-12° | 13-18° | 19-24° | 25-30° |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Odd sign | Infant | Adolescent | Youth | Aged | Dead |
Even sign | Dead | Aged | Youth | Adolescent | Infant |
The planet is weak like a newborn and gives very little results.
Example: If Moon is at 2° in Aries (odd sign), it is in infant stage. Such Moon may bring emotional restlessness and lack of mother’s support.
The planet is energetic but lacks maturity. Results may come with impatience.
Example: If Mars is at 9° in Leo (odd sign), it is in adolescent stage. This Mars will bring courage but also anger and impulsiveness.
This is the most powerful stage. The planet delivers its full strength.
Example: If Jupiter is at 16° in Sagittarius (odd sign), it is in youth stage. This Jupiter gives strong results in education, children and fortune.
The planet has wisdom but reduced activity. Results are slow and limited.
Example: If Venus is at 8° in Virgo (even sign), it is in aged stage. This Venus gives slow but steady results in marriage and relationships.
The planet becomes almost powerless, with minimal good or bad effects.
Example: If Saturn is at 4° in Capricorn (even sign), it is in dead stage. This Saturn may create career delays and obstacles in responsibilities.
1. Which stage of the planet is the most powerful?
The youth stage (13°-18°) is considered the strongest.
2. Does a planet become completely ineffective in dead stage?
No, it becomes very weak but not fully absent.
3. Why is the sequence reversed in odd and even signs?
Because odd signs signify active outward energy while even signs reflect stability and inward energy.
4. Can planets in infant stage give good results?
Only limited. If exalted, even an infant stage planet may give slight positive influence.
5. Does this rule apply to all planets?
Yes, this applies to all planets, whether benefic or malefic.
