A Test of Ego and True Strength: The Incredible Tale of Hanuman

When ego enters life, it does not remain limited to one quality but begins to influence a person’s entire perspective. A profound episode from the Dwapar era illustrates this truth, where three different forms of ego appeared together. On one side was Satyabhama’s pride in her beauty and special position, on another was Garuda’s pride in his unmatched speed and on the third was Sudarshan Chakra’s belief in its invincible power. Each of them was महान in their own place but when ego covered their strengths, they needed an experience that would reveal their true nature.
Ego is not something that disappears through advice alone. Shri Krishna understood this deeply. He knew that unless a person experiences truth directly, they cannot recognize their own ego. therefore he transformed this situation into a divine play where realization would come through experience.
For this purpose, he included Hanuman Ji, who is not only a symbol of strength but also of humility, devotion and self awareness. This made him the most suitable for this role.
According to the story, Hanuman Ji arrived in Dwarka in the form of a simple monkey. His appearance was ordinary but his presence carried extraordinary energy. He entered a beautiful garden and began shaking trees, plucking fruits and creating playful chaos.
While this seemed like simple mischief, it carried a deeper purpose. The guards and attendants of Dwarka were surprised and confused by his actions, unable to determine whether he was an ordinary being or something far greater.
When this news reached Shri Krishna, he instructed Garuda to bring the monkey under control. Garuda, who took pride in being the fastest, accepted the task with confidence. He believed that no one could surpass his speed.
however when he approached Hanuman Ji, the situation changed. Hanuman Ji challenged his speed and repeatedly outpaced him. Despite his full effort, Garuda could not capture him. For the first time, he experienced limitation.
This moment marked the beginning of the breaking of his ego.
After Garuda’s failure, Sudarshan Chakra was activated. It believed itself to be invincible and capable of controlling any force. It attempted to stop Hanuman Ji.
Yet, Hanuman Ji effortlessly brought it under control. This moment revealed a powerful truth that when strength is combined with ego, it loses its true effectiveness. Sudarshan Chakra realized that even its power had limits without humility.
The role of Satyabhama is equally significant in this story. She was proud of her beauty and her closeness to Shri Krishna. This pride gradually created a sense of superiority within her.
When she witnessed these events, this feeling became stronger. Shri Krishna understood this and created a situation where she realized that external beauty or position does not define greatness. True greatness lies in humility and devotion.
When the situation reached its peak, Shri Krishna intervened and revealed that this entire event was a test, not a battle. The purpose was not to defeat anyone but to reconnect them with their true nature.
These realizations pointed toward one truth that without humility, no quality becomes complete.
This story is not just an ancient episode but a truth that applies to every stage of life. A person may possess knowledge, beauty, strength or success but when ego attaches itself to these qualities, they begin to limit growth instead of enhancing it.
Life often presents situations that challenge us. These challenges reveal both our strengths and our limitations. These are the moments when a person looks within and recognizes their ego.
Understanding ego requires honest self reflection.
When this perspective develops, ego gradually dissolves and humility takes its place.
Hanuman Ji represents the state where strength and humility exist together. He possesses immense power, yet there is no ego within him. This balance allows him to remain steady in every situation and guide others toward truth.
This story teaches that true greatness does not lie in strength, beauty or speed alone but in the presence of humility along with them. When a person remains grounded despite possessing great qualities, they become truly extraordinary.
It also shows that life’s challenges are not obstacles but opportunities to dissolve ego and reconnect with one’s true self.
