Lessons of balance, sacrifice and spiritual growth through the sacred bond of Peepal and Pushya

In Indian tradition trees hold deep spiritual significance, and among them the Peepal tree is considered the most sacred. Pushya Nakshatra is known for nourishment, protection and spiritual upliftment. Together they create a powerful symbol of selflessness and inner purity.
Pushya signifies nourishment and selfless giving.
The Peepal tree also gives shade, oxygen and peace to every being without expecting anything in return.
Yet, no new plant grows under its dense shade, symbolizing deep sacrifice.
A sage lived in a forest with his disciples. He noticed that travellers, animals and seekers all rested under the Peepal tree, but no new plant ever grew beneath it.
A disciple asked,
“Gurudev, if this tree gives life, why does no new life begin under it?”
The sage replied,
“The Peepal symbolises selfless sacrifice. It gives everything but keeps nothing for itself. Its energy is devoted entirely to service. That is the peak of renunciation.”
He added,
“Pushya Nakshatra works the same way. It gives security and spiritual nourishment, yet it is not considered ideal for marriage or childbirth, because its purpose is inner evolution, not material expansion.”
