During Rath Yatra Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra travel from the main temple to Gundicha Temple in massive wooden chariots.

Chariot pulling: Devotees pull the chariots with ropes believing it destroys accumulated karmic burdens.
Gundicha Temple journey: The deities rest for a few days before returning during Bahuda Yatra.
Mahaprasad: Devotees receive sacred mahaprasad considered spiritually purifying.
Rath Yatra shows that the Lord comes out of the temple to be among His devotees.
It dissolves all boundaries of caste, class and identity.
It inspires unity, devotion, humility and collective harmony.
