A powerful story reflecting the guru-disciple tradition, humility and the spiritual grace of Pushya Nakshatra

In Indian culture the bond between guru and disciple holds divine importance. The story of Jupiter (Brihaspati) and Saturn (Shani) beautifully highlights humility, dedication and the true nature of learning. It also reflects the selfless and nurturing qualities associated with Pushya Nakshatra.
Saturn, known as the deity of karma, discipline and justice, was deeply inclined toward knowledge from a young age. He knew that true wisdom could be gained only through austerity and the guidance of a worthy teacher.
To avoid creating fear through his celestial form, he disguised himself as a human named Sauri and entered the gurukul of Jupiter.
Brihaspati - Guru of the Gods and Ruler of Pushya Nakshatra: A Tale of Inspiration
As Sauri, Saturn studied the Vedas, scriptures, astrology, ethics and spiritual practices with great sincerity.
His humility, discipline and service made him the most devoted disciple. Jupiter admired him deeply, without knowing that Sauri was actually Saturn in disguise.
When the time came for the traditional guru dakshina, Sauri humbly asked what he should offer.
He then revealed his true form and said,
“Gurudev, I am Saturn. I took human form only to receive your divine knowledge.”
Jupiter was moved. He embraced Saturn and said,
“Your humility, dedication and pure service are the greatest offering. I seek nothing else.”
